2nd Runner Up in NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2017

Asmita Tandukar, Rumi Rajbhandari and Sushma Giri – our 4th year BSc.CSIT students won Second position at NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2017. This global competition was organized by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Mercy Corps Nepal, Nepal Engineers Association (NEA) and Robotics Association of Nepal (RAN) in collaboration with Young Innovations Pvt. Ltd. And Kathmandu Living Labs in April 29-30, 2017.

They created an android app named ‘Food Cycle’ that aims to utilize the remaining food of restaurants, hotels and parties by tracking and providing the food to the needy ones. It also allowed the restaurants and hotels to provide their food wastes to compost makers for preparing compost fertilizer. NASA International Space Apps Challenge is a globally organized event where tech students and aspirants from all over the world participate. Our team was successful to secure the Top 3 position in the Nepal version of the competition and enter the global version of the same.
